Cookie Policy

This Cookie Policy informs how MUNI MUN uses cookies and similar tracking technologies on https://mun.fss.muni.cz. By using our website, you consent to our use of cookies in accordance with this policy.

This document informs Users about the technologies that help this Application achieve the purposes described below. Such technologies allow the Owner to access and store information (for example, by using a Cookie) or use resources (for example, by running a script) on a User’s device as they interact with this Application.

For simplicity, all such technologies are defined as "Trackers" within this document unless there is a reason to differentiate. Some purposes for which Trackers are used may also require the User's consent. Whenever consent is given, it can be freely withdrawn at any time following the instructions provided in this document.

This Application uses Trackers managed directly by the Owner (so-called “first-party” Trackers) and Trackers that enable services provided by a third party (so-called “third-party” Trackers). Unless otherwise specified within this document, third-party providers may access the Trackers managed by them.

What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when visiting a website. They help improve user experience by enabling website functionality, storing user preferences, and providing analytical insights.

1. How This Application Uses Trackers

1.1. Necessary Trackers

This Application uses so-called “technical” Cookies and other similar Trackers to carry out activities that are strictly necessary for the operation or delivery of the Service.

  • matomo_sessid: Prevents CSRF security issues when using the opt-out feature. (Expires in 14 days)

  • mtm_consent_removed: Records that a visitor opted out of Matomo tracking. (Expires in 30 years, subject to browser deletion policies)

  • mtm_cookie_consent: Stores visitor’s consent to tracking. (Expires in 30 years, subject to browser settings)

1.2. Analytics and Performance Trackers

These Trackers measure traffic and analyze User behaviour to improve the Service.

  • Google Tag Manager (Google LLC)

  • _pk_id: Stores a unique visitor ID to recognize returning visitors and build a visitor profile. (Expires in 13 months)

  • _pk_ses: Links user actions during a session for accurate analytics tracking. (Expires in 30 minutes)

  • _pk_ref: Stores referrer information to attribute traffic sources. (Expires in 6 months)

  • _pk_hsr: Temporarily stores data for heatmaps and session recording. (Expires in 30 minutes)

1.3. Optional and Functional Trackers
  • MatomoAbTesting: Ensures users consistently see the same version of a webpage during A/B testing. (Stored in local storage, no expiration)

  • _pk_uid: Assigns a persistent ID to a visitor across multiple domains and subdomains (if enabled). (Expires in 13 months)

Managing Preferences and Providing or Withdrawing Consent

Whenever the use of Trackers is based on consent, users can provide or withdraw such consent by setting or updating their preferences via the relevant privacy choices panel available on this Application.

With regard to any third-party Trackers, Users can manage their preferences via the related opt-out link (where provided), by using the means indicated in the third party's privacy policy, or by contacting the third party.

Please note, across the EU, consent is not required for storing or accessing information where it is strictly necessary to provide an online service explicitly requested by the User or solely required for transmission of a communication (however, we provide the following option). These are often referred to as “essential” and include cookies or tools used for the following purposes:

  • recording users’ cookie preferences;
  • personalising the user interface (language or UI settings) but only when the personalisation is an expected element of the service (does not apply to advertising);
  • allowing load balancing;
  • user authentication;
  • session security.

How to Control or Delete Cookies via Device Settings

Users may use their own browser settings to:

  • See what Cookies or other similar technologies have been set on the device;
  • Block Cookies or similar technologies;
  • Clear Cookies or similar technologies from the browser.

The browser settings, however, do not allow granular control of consent by category. Users can, for example, find information about how to manage Cookies in the most commonly used browsers:

  • Google Chrome
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Apple Safari
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer
  • Microsoft Edge
  • Brave
  • Opera

Users may also manage specific categories of Trackers used on mobile apps by opting out through relevant device settings such as the device advertising settings for mobile devices or tracking settings in general.

How to Opt-Out of Interest-Based Advertising

Users may follow the instructions provided by YourOnlineChoices (EU) or other similar services. These initiatives allow Users to select their tracking preferences for most advertising tools.

Consequences of Denying Consent

Users are free to decide whether or not to grant consent. However, please note that Trackers help this Application provide a better experience and advanced functionalities to Users. Therefore, without the User's consent, the Owner may be unable to provide related features.
